Wedding Readings for music loving couples

Music is so important to so many couples and often this is something you may want to reflect in your wedding ceremony. There are lots of ways to incorporate things that are important to you both in your humanist wedding, one way is through readings.

Perhaps it’s the music of your shared favourite band, or the song that was playing when you first went dancing, or lyrics that have got you through difficult times. Whatever your personal connection, here are five of my favourite readings reflecting songs, music and musicians.

Bold by Amahla

I’ve been overthinking

You’re always on my mind

Memorising what I going to say

My words underlined

Deep in this condition, I’ve put in the time

And anxiously, I’m awaiting your reply

In strength I can say that you saved me

Because I've become, what you’ve made me

Within your arms there’s safety

You make me believe

That I’m ready to give you more

If I may be so Bold

I can’t deny I’m unsteady

Taking my own advice

I will adhere to my convictions

And put emotions ahead of pride

Make me feel things I never

Thought I'd feel in my whole damn lifе

You are what I’ve been missing

Our moment has arrived

In strength I can say that you saved me

Because I've become what you’ve made me

Within your arms there’s safety

You make me believe

That I’m ready to give you more

If I may be so Bold

On the Radio - Regina Spektor

No, this is how it works

You peer inside yourself

You take the things you like

And try to love the things you took

And then you take that love you made

And stick it into someone else's heart

Pumping someone else's blood

And walking arm in arm, You hope it don't get harmed

Love Letter to June Carter by Johnny Cash

“We get old and get used to each other. We think alike. We read each other's minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes we take each other for granted.

But once in a while, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest person I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the reason for my existence. I love you very much.”

Think About Things by Daði Freyr

Baby I can't wait to know

What do you think about things?

Believe me, I will always be there, so

You can tell me anything and I'll listen

When we are together

There isn't anywhere that I would rather be

Three birds of a feather

I just hope you enjoy our company

It's been some time

And though hard to define

As if the stars have started to align

We are bound together, now and forever

And I will never let you go

In my Life by The Beatles

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

In my life I love you more
